This is pretty good for an oil painting hikki-chan...
heres the problem though, for me the puple doues not fit in the water ripple color for some reason.
If you want a tip...try not to use too much purple in the water, unless you want to blend it with white and/or pink
trust me..i may only be 14....but im a semi proffesional at oil painting, even though you dont see them in my gallery, i prefer working on huge canvas

I love the color choices. xD You did a great job blending.
Critique: It looks like the water isn't reflecting any light, though, so you may want to add some highlights on the crests of ripples. I would also suggest putting something in the background so the top of the picture doesn't have such a glaring negative space... Maybe gradient for the sky or a sunset or something like that. Or maybe clouds. I'm seeing sort of a relaxing feeling, as if it's isolation--but it's something that she's used to and it's in her comfort zone to be keeping others at a distance.
I haven't done any oil painting, though, so I can't help with techniques. 8D Sorry!

good job on this but there is yes a few things to work on probab ly someone all ready said the water did not reflect any light. Also that have the shadow maybe slightly jsut slightly bit darker other than that good work ^^.

I think the colors are pretty nice. I personally fail at paintings, or colors, so I don't wanna give incorrect advices. But I suppose use related colors, and perhaps make the girl stand out from the swamp to bring her into the foreground.
Hm, she's facing the train? So her back is to us. It's a scene I've been imagining since I was little, because my old apartment complex was next to a swamp-type stream? It's too small to be considered a river or lake. Probably even too small to be considered a stream, it was just a small body of water filled with reeds and "cat tails" and stuff. It was to separate the train from the apartment complex, so you know, no little kids run onto the train tracks, or w/e.
Then I got inspiration from Spirited Away, and the train isn't on water, per say, it's just that the tracks are covered by a thin layer of water.
Yeah, I wanted to make it a little darker over-all too? Since this scene is supposed to be a night-time scene. (That way the train window lights stand out?)
If I wanted to make it seem like it's night time, and the lighting is green, what kind of color do you think I should use for the water? I was a little confused so I stuck with a blue-purple mix.
Ohh, you should show me sometime! Take a picture? This was taken with my cellphone's camera, haha.
Although, a bit part of the blending ability is due to the oil paints, haha. That's the best part about them, it's so easy to blend colors <3!
Yeahh, this is a WIP, *not even close to done*? I'm debating a starry night sky, sunset or a dark cloudy grey-ish sky?
What's the crest of the ripple again? Haha, my vocab is lacking
I was thinking she's a sort of girl who likes to be alone, but, some part of her is longing to be surrounded by people at the same time? A kind of internal battle, haha. *lame*

Anyways, I don't really know where you're going with this...so... keep working on it!
Like, which way is the girl facing? What's a train doing in a swamp? Is it supposed to be abstract? Surreal?

Would that be called abstract or surreal? oAo//?
